75 crobert Parker: 92 points

Alcohol content: 16% vol.

Grape varieties: 100% Barbera

Vinification:

The grapes for this single-vineyard wine come from the new "Montebruna" vineyard, which has an ideal south-westerly exposure. After harvesting by hand and gently crushing the grapes, the mash is fermented in steel tanks. The young wine matures for a year in large oak barrels of 20 to 55 hectolitres each, followed by three months of ageing in the bottle.

Tasting note:

This bottle of Braida 2019 Barbera d'Asti Montebruna has a beautiful, rich, dark colour and plenty of cherry and blackberry in it. The fruit is plump, juicy and densely packed. Montebruna is characterised by its bright acidity, and there's plenty of that here too. This is always a great wine. What's more, this production of around 90,000 bottles is available at a very favourable price for this category.

Braida:

Braida is Raffaella's overwhelming laughter and Giuseppe's absorbed gaze. Two siblings who carry the legacy of an extraordinary winegrowing family in their genes. Braida is the "forest of thoughts", up there in Montebruna, where the plants lined up in rows are ready to give birth to a new Barbera vineyard in Asinara.

Biodiversity and rigour in production, ingenuity, imagination and respect for tradition - these are the guidelines. Braida is the story of Barbera and the new adventure of the white wines of the Langa between Nascetta, Chardonnay and Riesling.
