Vinifcation:

Der Ascona Riserva ist ein reinsortiger Merlot und gilt als der einzige echte Wein aus Ascona. Er stammt von den ersten Rebstöcken, die vor vierzig Jahren auf dem Weingut gepflanzt wurden. Die Reben wachsen auf sandig-lehmigen Böden granitischen und gneisischen Ursprungs, geprägt durch das Mikroklima des Lago Maggiore und die mineralischen Ablagerungen des Flusses Maggia. Nach der sorgfältigen Handlese erfolgt die Fermentation und Maischung über etwa drei Wochen in Edelstahltanks. Anschließend reift der Wein 30 Monate in neuen Barriques und mindestens weitere sechs Monate in der Flasche, um seine Komplexität und Struktur zu entwickeln.

Tasting note:

Im Glas zeigt sich der Ascona Riserva in dunklem Granatrot mit brillanten Reflexen. Das Bouquet besticht durch grosse Finesse und Komplexität, mit Noten von getrockneten roten Früchten, dezenten Röstnoten sowie einem Hauch von Balsamico, getrockneten Blumen, Orangenschale und orientalischen Gewürzen. Am Gaumen präsentiert er eine beeindruckende Struktur mit präsenten Tanninen, eleganter Säure und harmonischem Zusammenspiel der Aromen. Der Abgang ist langanhaltend und spiegelt die Aromenvielfalt wider.
