Falstaff: 91 points
Alcohol content: 12.5% vol.
Grape varieties: 78% Chardonnay, 12% Pinot Noir, 10% Pinot Blanc
Vinification:
The alcoholic fermentation of the must takes place in stainless steel tanks. The base wines are then blended and bottled. The second fermentation takes place on the lees for 36 months using the classic method.
Tasting note:
Brilliant, bright lemon yellow colour. Opens with a flavour of freshly baked butter croissant, accompanied by hazelnuts and nougat cream, with a second nose of ripe tropical fruit, ripe pineapple and banana. Builds powerfully, shows intensity and fine-meshed perlage, rich melting fills the entire palate, long-lasting finish.
Tenuta Montenisa:
The Montenisa Montenisa estate is located in the heart of Franciacorta near the village of Calino, a jewel in this gentle part of Italy, where centuries of history have passed by ancient palaces, monasteries, abbeys and small churches scattered among the green hills and moraine valleys. It is said that the name Franciacorte goes back to "Petite France", the affectionate name given to this region by Charlemagne.
The Tenuta cultivates the varieties that are traditionally best suited to the production of Franciacorta: Chardonnay with its typical floral and fruity aroma, Pinot Nero for structure and personality, Pinot Bianco, savoury and mineral. The historic vineyards of the estate are located on the hill of S. Stefano: their highly prized grapes with intense fragrance give the wine complexity and balance. The vineyards, planted more recently in a plot enclosed by a wall, locally called "brolo", are intended for the production of large grapes for great wines.
