Scents of wild strawberries and raspberries combine with earthy and spicy flavours, leading to a pleasantly tannic sip with light tobacco notes and a clean and precise finish.
Azienda Vitivinicole Ceretto:
The Aziende is located in Alba in Piedmont, in the centre of the Barolo region. The winery was founded in the 1930s by Riccardo Ceretto. He began producing wine from purchased grapes, as he did not have his own vineyards at the beginning.
his changed when his sons Bruno and Marcello joined the winery. They convinced their father to invest in land, as they were already convinced of the influence of healthy soil on the quality of the wine in the 1950s. Their father was hesitant - Piedmont was still very poor at the time and there was no prospect of a Barolo boom - but was nevertheless persuaded. In the 1960s, Bruno and Marcello began mapping out the land on which the best wines were produced and eventually acquired their own vineyards.
Today, Alessandro Ceretto produces the wines and can draw on a respectable portfolio of vineyards. In Barolo, this includes the Bussia, Brunate, Brapò, Cannubi San Lorenzo and Bricco Rocche vineyards, and in Barbaresco vineyards such as Asili and Bernadot. The wines are produced in four small wineries. The single-vineyard Barolos are produced at the Bricco Rocche winery, the Barbaresco at the Bricco Asili winery, the Moscato and Spumante at Vignaioli di Santo Stefano and the estate and local wines at Monsordo Bernardina.
