75 cl
Falstaff: 90 points
Alcohol content: 14% vol.
Grape varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
Vinification:
24 months in 400 litre wooden barrels, 1st to 3rd ageing.
Tasting note:
Fruity, spicy bouquet with notes of dried raspberry and all kinds of wild berries. There are also spicy hints of allspice and a touch of liquorice. Quite powerful on the palate, with ripe acidity and a lovely mellowness. Fine-grained tannins and flavours of dark wild berries and sour cherry. Long finish.
Pirmin Umbricht:
Pirmin can't complain about a lack of success. An Umbricht bottle of Aargau state wine has been awarded three times since 2017. Not a bad record, especially when you consider that you have to take a year off after winning this top cantonal trophy. Pirmin was GaultMillau's Rookie of the Year in 2018 and has been one of the top 125 (now 150) winemakers since 2019.
