Vinification:

Traditional vinification in 5000 litre wooden barrels, followed by ageing for 18 months in barriques.

Tasting note:

Intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. A complex wine with pronounced fruity flavours of cherries, blackberries and blueberries. This is followed by herbaceous notes of hay, spices such as cloves and pepper, tobacco and vanilla. The palate is full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and excellent acidity. The finish is very lingering.

Vinattieri:

The Vinattieri winery was built in the classic Bordeaux style: The centrepiece is the courtyard, the heart, where the grapes are delivered and selected. Depending on the quality, the wine is matured in steel tanks or barriques. After bottling, Vinattieri allows the wines to mature in the bottle, which can take between one and four years, depending on the variety.

Over the years, the Vinattieri winery has taken over a significant area of vineyards, which are essentially spread over three sites. 80 per cent of the vineyards in Mendrisiotto are located on limestone soils of various origins. The Lugano and Malcantone areas, on the other hand, have more acidic soils that produce fresher wines.
