75 cl
Robert Parker: 91 points
Alcohol content: 12.5% vol.
Grape varieties: Pinot Noir (Pinot Noir)
Vinification:
Traditional mash fermentation with subsequent maturation in barrique barrels.
Tasting note:
The 2022 Pinot Noir vom Löss from Friedrich Keller, bottled just two weeks before my tasting, opens with an intense and finely spiced or flinty bouquet of ripe, dark cherries and berries, interwoven with cigar box nuances. On the palate, it is silky, round and juicy, a medium to full-bodied, very elegant and balanced Pinot with fine, crisp tannins and delicate bitterness in the tart and refreshing salty finish.
Franz Keller Winery:
Friedrich Keller (4th generation) has been running the winery since 2016. Environmentally friendly, gentle viticulture with organic fertilisation, exclusively mechanical soil cultivation and the greening of the vines for natural humus supply are just as much a part of the principles of work in the vineyard as yield reduction through thinning, green harvesting and grape division. All roof areas are planted with meadow seed from the nearby nature reserve Badberg greened. By burying the building in the ground, optimal climatic conditions were created for the development and storage of the wines.
The main focus is on the production of Burgundy wines. The range includes fully fermented, fresh and fruity but also complex, mineral and full-bodied wines.
