Robert Parker: 94 points
Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.
Grape varieties: 100% Mencia
Vinification:
Bottled for 14 months in French oak barrels and without filtering.
Tasting note:
The 2020 style of Luna Beberide bears the name "La recuperada" on the label, which is the name of the vineyard (the recuperated one), the highest in the Finca de Valdetruchas, more or less at about 750 metres above sea level, on calcareous clay. The wine matured for 12 months in 5,000-litre oak barrels and 500-litre oak casks. It is young and brooding, with black berries and wild herbs, a hint of spice and plenty of fine-grained tannins that are more elegant than those of the Finca. It is medium-ripe with 13.5 % alcohol and very good freshness, something that has improved in Luna Beberide's wines in recent years. 12,500 bottles were bottled in November 2021.
Bodega Luna Berberide:
Thirty years after Bernardo Luna started making wine, the second generation of the Luna Beberide family, led by Alejandro Luna Beberide, today only wants to follow this line of simplicity and quality, striving for excellence based on the care and respect of the vines since 1998, with the help of Mariano García , who was a winemaker at Vega Sicilia for many years and a friend of the family when they launched the first reference red wines of Luna Beberide
