James Suckling: 90 points
Alcohol content: 14.5% vol.
Grape varieties: 97% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc
Tasting note:
The velvety texture of this wine is very seductive, with blueberry, sweet tobacco and mushroom character. Full-bodied, with ripe tannins and a clean finish.
Chateau Laroque:
The terroir is located on a plateau of chestnut-coloured and red clay over Asteria limestone with east-facing terraces and west-facing slopes of very chalky, fine bluish clay.
The vineyard extends over 61 hectares with old vines from massive selections - Merlot and Cabernet, which are over 50 years old.
