Roman Hermann:

The Hermanns no longer know in which year the first wine was pressed on the estate. But the fact is that great-grandfather Leonhard already enjoyed making wine as well as farming. Back then, around 1930, Pinot Noir was widespread in the Fläscher Halde vineyards. Riesling-Sylvaner, Pinot Gris and Completer were added in 1975. The foundation stone for an innovative business was laid. In 1982, Peter Hermann pressed the first vintage in Hinterdorf and built up today's winery with his wife Rosmarie. The winegrowing couple were always open to new ideas. They were soon experimenting with barriques in the cellar and planting other grape varieties. Peter was the first winegrower in the Bündner Herrschaft to produce the Sauvignon Blanc variety. Roman cultivates 6 hectares of vines on the Fläscher Halde. The largest parcel is the terraced area in Fläscher Bad, which was created by grandfather Hanspeter during the land reclamation in 1971. This historically old site is stony, steep and full of history. People used to bathe here before the hot springs in Bad Ragaz were utilised.
