Vinification:

Auf einen normalen Frühlingsanfang 2013 folgte eine aussergewöhnlich regnerische Phase, die die Professionalität der Winzer auf eine harte Probe stellte. Mit Beginn des Sommers stabilisierten sich die Wetterverhältnisse und mit der Sonne kehrten Optimismus und Heiterkeit in die Weinberge zurück. Der Rebaustrieb, ebenso wie die Blüte, begann verspätet, verlief dann aber gleichmäßig und normal. Die Reifephase der Trauben im Monat August verlief langsam, was auf eine mittelspäte Lese mit zunehmender Erntemenge, guter Traubengesundheit und hervorragender Qualität schließen liess. Dieser exzellente Schaumwein reift mindestens 5 Jahre auf der Hefe.

Tasting note:

Von strahlender und lebhafter altrosa Farbe. Im Glas präsentiert sich der edle Rosé mit feinster Perlage. Im Bouquet üppig und facettenreich, erinnert an Kirschen, Heckenrosen und Orangen. In der Nase wirkt diese Riserva fast eher wie ein Stillwein als ein Spumante. Am Gaumen von reichhaltiger und fleischiger Struktur, voll und kräftig, jedoch ohne das Gleichgewicht zu verlieren. Langer und bekömmlicher Abgang, mit Noten von roten Früchten und Lebkuchen.

Ferrari - the fine wines are among the best that Italy has to offer when it comes to spumanti. At Ferrari, quality is a top priority. Giulio Ferrari already focussed on this when, in 1902, he fermented the first Chardonnay grapes into a Spumante in the Champagne style, i.e. with a second fermentation in the bottle. With his ambitious project, the then 23-year-old laid the foundations for the company that today exports its Trentodoc sparkling wines all over the world.

In the 1950s, Ferrari handed over the business to Bruno Lunelli, a young wine merchant from Trento, due to a lack of offspring. The third Lunelli generation has now taken the helm. Under their leadership, Ferrari has won award after award for its sparkling wines and even won the title of Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships in 2019 - for the third time after 2015 and 2017!
