Robert Parker: 92 points
Alcohol content: 13.5 % vol.
Grape varieties: 100% Merseguera
Vinification:
Vinified in French barriques, then matured for eleven months in 225-litre barriques on the fine lees.
Tasting note:
Brilliant, white-golden colour. Subtle aromas of citrus fruit, white flowers and lightly toasted almonds on the nose. Citrus, floral and yeasty flavours on the palate, framed by pronounced mineral notes. The refreshing acidity perfectly complements the soft texture and the mineral finish is a delight. An absolute insider tip from the house of Mustiguillo.
Bodegas Mustiguillo:
The founder and owner of Bodega Mustiguillo is Toni Sarrión.
At the end of the 1990s, he acquired the Mustiguillo estate in the El Terrerazo region in the hilly hinterland of Valencia. From the outset, he focussed on the local grape varieties Bobal and Merseguera with the clear aim of natural viticulture. High-quality cuvées and single-varietal wines are produced from these vines. Natural gravity is used in the cellar, meaning that the wines are not pumped at all, which benefits the gentle handling of the wines.
