Grüner Veltliner Renner DAC - Winery Hirsch - 2021

'It is the Kamptal with its soils, vegetation and climate that gives our wines their character and individuality. You could also say: their stubbornness. Because at the Hirsch winery in Kammern - whose roots go back to the 16th century - we attach great importance to going our own way. Because we are convinced of the power of the region.

The result of our perpetual dialogue with nature, our wines are full of strength, taut minerality and smoothness, depending on the location and soil. They are brilliant in their clarity and whet the appetite for the next glass. Our wines rarely have more than 12.5 per cent alcohol by volume; lightness is a particular concern of ours.

Since 1999, we have devoted all our attention to the two grape varieties Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. We are convinced that these varieties are ideal for the terroir here in the Kamptal and that truly great wines can be produced here.

All our vineyards are now cultivated biodynamically, which is a matter of course for us. Since 2013, the vines have been pruned using the gentle Simonit & Sirch method.

Our winery is a family business. We are Johannes and Sandra, our children Marie, Florian and Josef, our parents Josef and Christine and our dog Ilvy.

We all work together and accompany the work of nature so that every year we can produce wines that proudly bear the Hirsch name.
