Robert Parker: 94 points
Alcohol content: 14.5% vol.
Grape varieties: 38% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Petit Verdo
Vinification:
The grapes for Il Pino di Biserno are harvested by hand and rigorously selected on sorting tables. Mash fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 28 °C for three to four weeks. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, half in new barriques and half in stainless steel tanks. The young wine then matures for twelve months in new and two-year-old French barriques.
Tasting note:
The Il Pino di Biserno 2020 is powerful and ripe with creamy blackberries, candied cherries, spices and tarry smoke. Hidden deep inside are pressed roses, blood oranges and tea leaves. The tannins are pronounced, but this full-bodied Tuscan red wine is almost ready to go when you drink it. The blend consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
Tenuta di Biserno:
The winery is located in the municipality of Bibbona in the Alta Maremma and borders the old town of Bolgheri to the north.
The exceptional terroir, the unique Bolgheri conglomerate and the natural conditions such as wind, soil and climate allow vines of the highest quality to grow, which are synonymous with the success of our wines and make them unique, authentic and unmistakable.
The Tenuta di Biserno extends over an area of around 40 hectares at an altitude of 90 metres above sea level. Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot are the main grape varieties grown on the soils, which are mainly calcareous and clayey alluvial soils with pebbles.
The influence of the nearby sea and the different exposures are essential prerequisites for the production of the two stylistic variants: Biserno and Il Pino di Biserno.
