Guía Peñin: 91 points
Alcohol content: 13% vol.
Grape varieties: 100% Verdejo
Tasting note:
In the glass, it shines in a golden colour with greenish reflections. All the aromas that are characteristic of this grape variety come to the fore on the nose: Peach, fennel, herbs, tropical hints... In the mouth, it is fresh, smooth and mineral. All in all, this wine is like a high-resolution photograph of the Verdejo grape and the great white wines from Rueda.
Vinification:
After the harvest, the must ferments in steel tanks, concrete and wooden vats. The wine then matures for four months on its own yeasts.
Bodegas José Pariente:
The bodega was born in the 1960s from the dream of a winegrower, José Pariente, who, full of passion for his land and its king grape variety, Verdejo, began producing artisan wines. In 1998, his daughter, to whom he passed on his passion and who is trained in oenology, founded the current bodega. Her aim was to produce excellent white wines, thus honouring her father. And the story continues: Martina, the third generation, is now also fully involved in the business.
The bodega produces its wines from vines grown on different plots at 750 metres above sea level in harsh, continental climatic conditions. The terroir consists of barren soils (gravel and scree) with clay and limestone subsoils. Only Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc, historically grown in this area, are cultivated.
