Around half of the grapes are fermented whole, the rest are destemmed. Matured for up to 12 months in new barriques.

Tasting note:

The dark ruby red Malanser Pinot Noir 2020 offers an intense and generous fruit bouquet with super-ripe and well-concentrated cherry and berry flavours, mixed with delicate slate-like notes of the Malans soils. The palate is fresh and savoury, a lush but very elegant and refined Pinot from a very warm year. The wine is full-bodied and rich, very juicy and intense and develops a long, mouth-filling and persistent finish with fine tannins, stimulating astringency and the mineral freshness typical of Malans. A generous but harmonious and very elegant Pinot with ripe and silky tannins and fine, crystalline acidity. After 2015 and 2018, the 2020 is another top vintage for Thomas Studach. 13% indicated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasting in Zurich, February 2023.
