Tasting note:
The 2018 Roda I is in line with the other 2018s, less alcohol, more grainy tannins and a little more earthy rusticity, which for me translates into more character and less polished wines. It is a blend of 92 % Tempranillo, 6 % Graciano and 2 % Garnacha from vines over 30 years old, mainly in the Haro area and selected because they produce black rather than red fruit. It is a red wine with 14 % alcohol and a pH of 3.68. It was bottled in July 2020 in 137,199 bottles.
Bodegas Roda:
The bodega was founded in 1987 in Haro on the River Ebro in the heart of the D.O.Ca Rioja wine region in Spain by the Catalan winemaker couple Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella.
Bodegas Roda produces modern Rioja wines of the highest quality with innovation and an uncompromising approach.
The bodega's 40 hectares of vineyards are spread over 3 carefully selected sites and are planted with the classic Rioja grape varieties Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta and Graciano. The vines on the bodega's property are up to 70 years old.
