Classically aged in wooden barrels of 5000 litres, then refined in new oak barrels for 18 months.

Tasting note:

Der Wein hat eine intensive rote Farbe mit leuchtenden Reflexen im Glas. Das Bouquet wird von Noten von Pflaumen, dunklen und roten Beeren geprägt, mit feinen Aromen von Vanille, Leder und Gewürzen. Am Gaumen zeigt er alle typischen Merkmale des Merlot: Vollmundig, saftig, mit ausgeprägten aber sehr eleganten Tanninen.

Vinattieri:

The Vinattieri winery was built in the classic Bordeaux style: The centrepiece is the courtyard, the heart, where the grapes are delivered and selected. Depending on the quality, the wine is matured in steel tanks or barriques. After bottling, Vinattieri allows the wines to mature in the bottle, which can take between one and four years, depending on the variety.

Over the years, the Vinattieri winery has taken over a significant area of vineyards, which are essentially spread over three sites. 80 per cent of the vineyards in Mendrisiotto are located on limestone soils of various origins. The Lugano and Malcantone areas, on the other hand, have more acidic soils that produce fresher wines.
