Alcohol content: 14.5% vol.
Grape varieties: 55% Petit Verdot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
Vinification:
18 months in French barriques and tonneaux (70 % new, 30 % used). After blending, the wine rests in concrete tanks before being bottled. Aged for a further 24 months in the bottle. No fining or filtration.
Tasting note:
Dark ruby red with violet reflections and a slightly brightening rim. Very spicy nose of cedar wood, cigar box, juniper berries and black elderberries. On the palate, a rich fruit centre, juicy with tightly woven tannins and a very herbal and spicy finish.
Tenuta Monteti:
The Tenuta Monteti is a winery in the southern Maremma near Capalbio. Founded in 1998 by Gemma and Paolo Baratta, the estate was later taken over by their daughter Eva and her husband Javier Pedrazzini. Despite their very different professional backgrounds - she in film, he in diplomacy - the two decided to follow their passion for wine. The 30 hectares of vines are located in the middle of a total area of around 142 hectares, nestled in the hills with a view of the sea and well protected by the prehistoric Monteti volcano, which provides the vines with a unique microclimate.
