Aromas of stewed fruit and lots of cassis on the nose. Alongside spicy tones, hints of tobacco and liquorice. A very fine tannin structure on the palate, juicy and with lots of flavour, wonderful sweetness and fantastic freshness.

Château Citran:

Château Citran was built between 1861 and 1864 on the foundations of a previous building from the Middle Ages. In 2012, the château was added to the list of historical monuments in France. Château Citran belongs to the Haut-Médoc appellation. On 90 hectares of clayey gravel, 50-60% Cabernet Sauvignon and around 40% Merlot are cultivated, with a small amount of Cabernet Franc added depending on the vintage. The Donissan de Citran family ruled this estate in the 13th century until 1832, when the last heir had to sell the estate to Mr Clauzel. The Miailhe family bought the estate in 1945 and carried out a renovation programme until 1987. A Japanese group then acquired the estate and made major investments in the vineyards and the château. In 1996, the Merlaut family, a major player in Bordeaux trade and production, took over Château Citran. They continuously improved the quality of the wines and developed a reputation among wine lovers. The wines of Château Citran are characterised by an expressive bouquet with rich aromas; on the palate, an excellent structure with a harmonious balance between fruit and wood. The powerful finish is characterised by an elegant length.
