75 cl
Robert Parker: 92-94 points
Alcohol content: 14% vol.
Grape varieties: 95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc
Vinification:
100% Hand-picked. Matured in barriques for 15 months. (1/3 in new and 2/3 in used barriques)
Tasting note:
The 2020 de la Huste has a deep purple-black colour and exudes extravagant notes of crushed blackberries, blueberry pie and ripe black raspberries in the glass, as well as hints of violets, mocha and liquorice. The palate is full of juicy black and blue fruits, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and impressive freshness, with a long, perfumed finish. A beautiful powerhouse!
Chateau de la Huste:
Owned by the Roullier family since 1870. The focus is on natural production in harmony with nature in order to protect biodiversity.
The plots of Château de la Huste are located on a soil geological formation of the famous asteriated limestone, in which fossilised starfish can be found. The formation of this wine-growing area dates back to the Oligocene, 30 million years ago.
The soils are all calcareous and clayey and express different aspects of the terroir through the vines, depending on the thickness of the clay and, above all, the proximity to the limestone layer at a depth of 20 to 150 cm.
The late ripening character of our terroir results from the high water storage capacity of the loam, which warms up only slowly.
