Robert Parker: 94 points
Alcohol content: 14.5% vol.
Grape varieties: 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc
Vinification:
Barrique ageing 15 to 18 months.
Tasting note:
Dark ruby-garnet colour, violet reflections, delicate ochre rim. Fine precious wood nuances, floral undertones, delicate hints of blueberries and liquorice, orange blossom, multi-faceted, inviting bouquet. Juicy, tightly woven, ripe heart cherries, fine fruit sweetness, ripe, supporting tannins, very good length and freshness, a hint of honey on the finish, mineral and persistent, sure maturity potential.
Chateau Laroque:
The terroir is located on a plateau of chestnut-coloured and red clay over Asteria limestone with east-facing terraces and west-facing slopes of very chalky, fine bluish clay.
The vineyard extends over 61 hectares with old vines from massive selections - Merlot and Cabernet, which are over 50 years old.
