The Fontalloro comes from a single vineyard on the border of the Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi zones. The pure Sangiovese from this cru of six hectares is matured to 100 % in new barriques.

Tasting note:

The Fèlsina 2017 Fontalloro comes out of the bottle with a bang. This pure expression of Sangiovese is lush and dark with thick layers of dark fruit, plum, cherry, leather and ploughed earth. This hot vintage shows good depth and intensity with plenty of black fruit energy and added concentration typical of this growing season. However, you can always count on the Fontalloro to be balanced, and that is exactly the case here, despite the adversity of the hot summer. The acidity of the Sangiovese remains intact and crisp. The production is 30,000 bottles.

Felsina:

The Fèlsina vineyard is a "borderland", the border of the Chianti Classico zone runs through its territory, which lies between the last ridges of the Chianti mountains and the first section of the Ombrone river valley. Not far away is the clay heath landscape of the Crete.

This results in an extraordinary variety of soils, microclimates and Sangiovese clones, which have been guarded and preserved since the Poggiali family acquired the estate in 1966. Berardenga, Fontalloro and Rancia epitomise the quality and style of Fèlsina and are a global benchmark for Sangiovese.
