Wonderful notes of ripe quinces, green apples and pears and delicate apricots. Clear, finely juicy fruit in a compact body, refreshing structure, straightforward, mineral, long-lasting melon flavours on the finish.
Hörner Winery:
The Hörner winery is located on the western outskirts of Hochstadt on a resettlement farm that was established in the mid-nineties. The Hörner family has been growing grapes for generations, before bottling the wine themselves for the first time around 25 years ago. The wines come exclusively from vineyards they cultivate themselves and now cover an area totalling around 30 hectares. The Hörner family stands for modern, natural viticulture, in which they almost completely avoid the use of herbicides and insecticides and carry out the time-consuming foliage work by hand. The plants and soil are also treated with great care to minimise interference with the natural development of the wines. The vines thrive on deep loess loam soils and benefit from a very good water supply from the loess soils. Even in warm, dry years, fruity, fresh but also long-lasting wines can be produced. The growths are presented in the three segments of Taurus, Capricorn and Aries - each one with a distinctive, distinctive design. Taurus is the entry point to the range: Drinking pleasure for every day. The Capricorn wines form the centrepiece of the range, reflecting the diversity of the grape varieties. From juicy Burgundy to flavoursome, fresh Sauvignon Blanc or Gelber Muskateller, ambitious wine drinkers will always find what they are looking for. The pinnacle of the Hörner winery's work are the Widder wines. In the best years, batches of grapes from selected vineyards are carefully made into great wines. Half-length barrels made from local oak were specially produced for this purpose. After a long maturation period on the lees and without filtration, some Widder wines are only sold several years after the harvest.
