75 cl
Falstaff: 94 points
Alcohol content: 14.5% vol.
Grape varieties: 38% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, 8% different varieties
Vinification:
The grapes for Il Pino di Biserno are harvested by hand and rigorously selected on sorting tables. Mash fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 28 °C for three to four weeks. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, half in new barriques and half in stainless steel tanks. The young wine then matures for twelve months in new and two-year-old French barriques.
Tasting note:
Bright, elegant ruby red colour. Fumé on the nose, café au lait, ripe red berry fruit, with slight hints of graphite and cranberries. Compact on the palate, with powerful tannins in the foreground, rich spice, shows good length, then minimally rough on the finish in the middle section, can still wait.
Tenuta di Biserno:
The winery is located in the municipality of Bibbona in the Alta Maremma and borders the old town of Bolgheri to the north.
The exceptional terroir, the unique Bolgheri conglomerate and the natural conditions such as wind, soil and climate allow vines of the highest quality to grow, which are synonymous with the success of our wines and make them unique, authentic and unmistakable.
The Tenuta di Biserno extends over an area of around 40 hectares at an altitude of 90 metres above sea level. Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot are the main grape varieties grown on the soils, which are mainly calcareous and clayey alluvial soils with pebbles.
The influence of the nearby sea and the different exposures are essential prerequisites for the production of the two stylistic variants: Biserno and Il Pino di Biserno.
