Tasting note:

A real insider tip with 93/100 points from Parker and Falstaff! Dark ruby-garnet colour, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening, black berry confit with a delicate tobacco and herbal spice background, a hint of cherries, mandarin zest. Juicy, good complexity, ripe heart cherries, well-integrated, supporting tannins, some nougat on the finish, good future potential.

Chateau Daugay:

Château Daugay lies at the foot of the south/south-west slope of Saint-Emilion, surrounded by prestigious vineyards as far as the eye can see. The 5.5-hectare estate resembles a lookout watching over the village and is said to owe its name to the jay, or "geai" in French. Mentions of the name Daugay go back more than 500 years. It can be traced back to the jays - called "Daou gay" in the local dialect - that used to gather on the hills and slopes named after them. Known as the scout of the forest, the colourful feathered bird guards its own with its unmistakable song.
Like its totemic animal, Daugay watches the horizon as far as the neighbouring village of Saint-Emilion... Like the jay, it has a broad register with "notes" of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Like the jay, it "sings the praises" of wine, perpetuating centuries-old techniques passed down from generation to generation. And like its symbolic bird, today it stretches its wings of modernity and innovation towards the future.
