James Suckling: 94 points
Alcohol content: 14% vol.
Grape varieties: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon
Vinification:
Since 2011, the grapes for the Marchese Antinori Chianti classico docg Riserva have come exclusively from the vines of the renowned Tenuta Tignanello. This popular classic is therefore the second wine from this estate with the illustrious name. After harvesting, fermentation and careful pressing of the grapes, the young wine matures for 14 months in barriques. This is followed by a further twelve months of bottle ageing.
Tasting note:
Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2020 has a ruby red colour. On the nose, the Red wine from Italy with fresh notes of red fruit alternating with floral notes of mallow and lavender. Sweet nuances of white chocolate and savoury spice aromas stand out in this rich bouquet. The attack on the palate is soft and full-bodied, leading to an elegant flavour with vibrant tannins that reveal the typical energy of the region's vineyards and a long, tasty and persistent finish with notes of white pepper, flowers and cocoa powder.
