The „Tenuta Aia Vecchia“ winery (Bolgheri & Maremma)
Owner: The vineyard is owned by the The Pellegrini family, which has been deeply rooted in the Italian wine sector for generations. The estate was founded in 1996. Renowned experts such as the Hungarian oenologist Tibor Gál and the agronomist Daniel Schuster played a decisive role in its development.
Location: The vineyards are spread across prime micro-regions along the Tuscan coast, primarily within the prestigious appellation Bolgheri DOC as well as in the Maremma Grossetana. The estate is therefore situated in the immediate vicinity of world-famous icons such as Sassicaia and Ornellaia.
Style and characteristics:
Focus on Super Tuscans: Specialising in full-bodied, Bordeaux-style blends made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Profile: The wines – first and foremost the well-known entry-level wine Lagone as well as the flagship Sor Ugo – are characterised by a complex structure, a distinct sense of terroir and an elegant, velvety fruitiness, combined with subtle spicy notes.
