Tasting note:
The marriage of white peaches with floral notes is captivating on the nose. Unusually enveloping, fresh and fruity, wonderfully persistent through to the mineral finish.
Gialdi:
The Gialdi winery is a story of passion, tradition and constant progress. In 1980, Feliciano Gialdi took over the small family business from his father, who until then had mainly specialised in importing wine. But Feliciano dreamed of producing wines from Ticino himself. With the first grapes from winegrowers in the Tre Valli region, he began to realise this dream. Against all expectations and forecasts, Feliciano succeeded in developing the winery into a model winery in Ticino. Gialdi's wines reflect the diversity and beauty of the Ticino landscape, particularly from the lower Leventina, the villages of the Blenio Valley and the picturesque wine villages of Giornico, Biasca and Malvaglia. Feliciano himself, a man of temperament, down-to-earthness and directness, lives and works in Mendrisio, where the winery is also located. His credo, which he emphasises time and again, is to combine state-of-the-art technology with an appreciation of traditional winemaking. In 2023, Feliciano celebrated his 70th anniversary at the winery that his father Guglielmo once founded. Today, he runs the company together with his daughter Raffaella. Through continuous investment in the wineries in Mendrisio and Bodio, Gialdi has developed into a heavyweight in Ticino wine production. Under the umbrella of Gialdi Vini, which also includes the companies Brivio and Zamberlani, almost one million kilograms of grapes are processed into wine every year. The wide range of Gialdi products mainly includes wines from the Sopraceneri region. The grapes for Gialdi wines are sourced from over three hundred winegrowers from the lower Leventina, the Riviera and the Blenio Valley.
