150 cl
Robert Parker: 90 points
Alcohol content: 12.5% vol.
Grape varieties: 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Nero
Vinification:
The base wine is fermented in steel tanks, after some contact with the Pinot Noir must to extract colour. In the spring after the harvest, sugar and yeast are added to the base wine and the second fermentation takes place in the bottle. Maturation on the lees for 24 months.
Tasting note:
The Berlucchi '61 Franciacorta Rosé presents itself with soft foam, velvety, persistent delicate mousse and a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is rich, elegant and complex with notes of wild berries and ripe fruit. Well integrated in a delicate fragrance of yeast and bread crust. Pleasantly vinous. Fine and elegant on the palate, with a good body and excellent freshness. The medium to high dosage perfectly balances the tangy acidity. 60% Pinot Nero, 40% Chardonnay The Berlucchi legend began in 1961 when the young winemaker Franco Ziliani succeeded in creating a sparkling wine in Borgonato modelled on Champagne and meeting the highest standards. Never before had a wine carried the name Franciacorta as a designation of origin on the label. Ziliani's fine-sparkling, highly elegant creation Pinot di Franciacorta is the origin of an unprecedented success story for Franciacorta as a region for the production of high-quality sparkling wines - as well as for the Berlucchi company itself
Berlucchi Franciacorta:
"The Berlucchi vineyards have been certified organic since 2016 and represent the cutting edge of viticulture in Franciacorta. They are so special because we have a production philosophy that embraces the interlinked principles of quality and sustainability. For this reason, we choose to produce less, but better.
Technology comes to our aid. For example, as part of the Mille1Vigna project, the vineyards were analysed and classified in order to link the character of each wine to the different soil type. Or thanks to infrared aerial mapping, we were able to assess the fertility of the different areas of the vineyard, postpone the harvest and only fertilise when necessary.
The Biopass soil biodiversity analysis has confirmed that we are on the right track: Our soils are healthy and full of life.
Our mission as a sustainable winery has taken shape thanks to a series of projects, actions and collaborations. The partnership with the Treedom platform has helped thousands of trees to blossom, a concrete step towards a better world with lower CO2 emissions and lush nature.
Since June 2021, we have welcomed 50 beehives to our historic Brolo vineyard. These bees of the species Apis mellifera ligustica improve the biodiversity of the wine ecosystem, facilitate pollination and enrich the soil.
Thanks to these and other projects, we are pursuing our path towards a sustainable Franciacorta and preserving the territory we love with the vision of an even greener future.
