75 cl
Alcohol content: 14% vol.
Grape varieties: 100% Chardonnay
Vinification:
Hand-picked at the beginning of September, spontaneous fermentation in 228lt. French oak barrels at 20-25°C, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Matured for 12 months in 228lt. barrels on the lees
Tasting note:
Medium green-yellow, silver reflections. Delicate woody spice, a hint of quince and yellow apple, nuances of vanilla, fine yellow tropical fruit. Full-bodied, elegant, delicate honeydew melon flavour, fine acid core, mineral-salty undertones, already well developed and drinkable, has good ageing potential.
Winery Markowitsch:
Gerhard Markowitsch is one of those exceptional talents who know how to produce exceptional wines. Through perfection in the vineyard, meticulous selection of the grapes and interaction with the latest technology, the likeable winemaker manages to refine his wines every year and further improve their quality.
Gerhard Markowitsch's wines are authentic, independent and accurately reflect the characters of local and international grape varieties. In 1999, Falstaff named him Winemaker of the Year; and his "Markowitsch M1" has just been awarded the full 100 points by Falstaff. His principles of patience, balance, character and technique have thus paid off in full. We are thrilled - not only by the variety, but also by the character of each individual wine. A particularly exciting producer who we will certainly be hearing a lot more about in the future.
