Alcohol content: 13% vol.
Grape varieties: 100% Humagne Rouge
Vinification:
Traditional mash fermentation. Matured in steel tanks.
Tasting note:
Dark, rich red colour. Velvety colour with violet reflections. Aroma: Aromas of black pepper and dark berries on the nose. Flavour: Humagne rouge combines the finesse and structure of a noble red wine. Its strong berry flavour and a light peppery note make this wine a true taste experience. Slender at the start, present in the middle, long-lasting.
Albert Mathier:
The Mathiers came to Salgesch in 1387. Originally from Marseille, they travelled to Switzerland via Grenoble. The reason was poverty and the opportunity to earn money abroad as mercenaries. They soon discovered that the region was ideal for winegrowing. And they realised that a good glass of wine was far more conducive to life than warfare. Albert Mathier - as the name suggests, the founder of Albert Mathier & Söhne AG - was born in 1891, the second of nine children. He married Monika in 1918. This marriage produced five children. When the global economy was in the doldrums, the family tried to defy the recession by ploughing up fields and meadows and planting vines. With their wine press house, they laid the foundations for their own wine history and that of the red wine metropolis of Salgesch.
