CHF 86.00
In stock
75 cl
Falstaff: 96 points
Alcohol content: 14.5% vol.
Grape varieties: Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt
Vinification:
Fermentation of the must at 30–32°C in a wooden fermentation vat. Maceration period of 24–30 days, followed by 24 months’ ageing in French oak barriques and 500-litre casks.
Tasting note:
Dark ruby-garnet colour, opaque centre, violet highlights, a delicate lightening at the rim. Delicate aromas of nougat, blackberries and heart cherries, with notes of liquorice and cassis, underpinned by subtle spicy notes of precious wood and a mineral touch. Powerful, black cherries, plums, a fine arc of acidity, a sweet, extract-rich core, well-structured tannins, mineral and very persistent, a chocolatey finish, assured ageing potential.
Winery Markowitsch:
Gerhard Markowitsch is one of those exceptional talents who know how to produce exceptional wines. Through perfection in the vineyard, meticulous selection of the grapes and interaction with the latest technology, the likeable winemaker manages to refine his wines every year and further improve their quality.
Gerhard Markowitsch’s wines are authentic, distinctive and accurately reflect the character of both local and international grape varieties. As early as 1999, he was named Winemaker of the Year by Falstaff; and just recently, his «Markowitsch M1» was awarded a full 100 points by Falstaff. This demonstrates that his guiding principles – patience, balance, character and technique – are paying off in full. We are thrilled – not only by the variety, but also by the character of each individual wine. A particularly exciting producer, about whom we are sure to hear a great deal more in the future.
