Hand-picked, gentle pressing and must clarification. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tank autoclaves at a controlled temperature of 10-12°C to retain a little natural CO2 in the wine. No malolactic fermentation in order to retain the already low acidity and thus the freshness of the wine.

Tasting note:

Aromas of lime and ripe bananas are captivating on the nose; the fresh palate begins with an elegant fruity sweetness, then becomes fuller in the middle and shows fine notes of gooseberries and pineapple, finishing wonderfully dry.

The historic winery Cantina Vietti is one of the most renowned producers in the Piedmont (Italy) and is regarded as a true pioneer of single-vineyard wines in the region.

Head office: The vineyard is situated in the historic centre of Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo region.

Vineyards: Vietti manages around 75 hectares Vineyard area. These are spread across prime plots in the Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero, Asti and Colli Tortonesi regions.

Famous single-vineyard wines (Crus): The estate comprises some of Piedmont’s most sought-after vineyards, including Rocche di Castiglione, Villero, Brunate and Lazzarito.

 

Owner: In 2016, Cantina Vietti was acquired by the US business family Krause (Krause Holdings).

Business management: Following the sale, the founding Currado-Vietti family initially remained active. The family has since stepped back. Today, the long-serving head oenologist ensures continuity in terms of craftsmanship and style in the cellar Eugenio Palumbo.

Origin and Terroir: The wines are characterised by a very a clear expression typical of its origin in which the focus is on the specific microclimate and geology of the individual vineyard. 

Stylistic balance: The extension cleverly connects classical and traditional elements (such as ageing in large oak barrels) with a modern, crisp fruit notes and perfectly integrated acidity and tannin structures. 

Pioneering spirit: In 1961, Vietti became one of the very first wineries to bottle Barolo by individual vineyard (Rocche di Castiglione). Furthermore, in the 1960s, the estate saved the white grape variety, which had almost died out Arneis before he disappeared. 

Trademark: The iconic ones are also internationally renowned Artist labels, which have been specially designed for the winery since 1974 and reflect the individual character of each vintage.
