Falstaff: 93 points
Alcohol content: 14% vol.
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
Vinification:
Traditional mash fermentation in steel tanks at 30 °C, maceration for 20 days, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Tasting note:
Deep dark ruby colour, violet reflections, opaque core, delicate edge brightening. Intense aroma of ripe cherries, dark forest berry confit underlaid with dark chocolate, hints of wood spice. Taut, complex, well-integrated tannins, dark fruit on the finish, appears light-footed, spicy notes and redcurrants in the aftertaste, sure development potential.
Winery Salzl:
At Salzls, the passion for their white, red and sweet wines is absolutely palpable. While the majority of the wines are red wines - especially Zweigelt alongside national and international varieties - the winery also offers the whole range of Burgenland wine culture at the highest level, from fresh and fruity to complex mineral white wines and noble sweet Prädikat wines.
