Grape varieties: 100% Blaufränkisch

Vinification:

Grapes from the Spiegel vineyard between Salzberg and Gabarinza, gently sloping to the south, limestone in the soil ensures the juiciness of the wine; selective hand-picking, spontaneous fermentation, maturation for 18 months in 500-litre barrels (50% new wood).

Tasting note:

Dark ruby-garnet colour, violet reflections, broad ochre rim. Fine blackberry notes, delicate plums, candied mandarin zest, floral touch, hints of nougat. Good complexity, tightly woven, delicate cooked cherry fruit, ripe tannins, a hint of vanilla, present fine wood spice, good food companion with potential.

Paul Achs Winery:

The winery in Gols is located 60 kilometres south-east of Vienna, close to the Hungarian border in the middle of an impressive and beautiful natural paradise - Northern Burgenland.

The vineyards are located in and around Gols. 25 hectares, spread over 40 plots, each with its own individual potential. This wide spread gives us a variety of soils and microclimates - the ideal basis for creating exciting, authentic wines year after year.

The planting of the vineyards was chosen in such a way that the variety, soil and orientation create a harmonious whole - some vineyards were planted with three different grape varieties.
