Matured in barriques for approx. 30 months, 30 % first fill, 70 % second fill.
Refinement before bottling, 3 months in concrete and bottle ageing for 6 to 8 months.
Tasting note:
The Vallepicciola 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Lapina offers an immediate bouquet of ripe fruit, sweet baking spice and a hint of cocoa or dark chocolate. There is also cedar wood, tobacco and leather. The results are balanced, and the wine's concentration is on the rich side of the spectrum. The style is perhaps best described as contemporary or modern, but these results are solid.
Vallepicciola:
The soul and heart of Vallepicciola are located in the ancient lands of Chianti Classico, areas with a mild microclimate and the incomparable charm of Castelnuovo Berardenga, Siena. Vallepicciola covers 265 hectares, of which 65 hectares are vineyards and a further 40 hectares were planted by 2019. In addition to international grape varieties such as Pinot Nero, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the traditional Sangiovese is cultivated, which is mainly intended for the production of Chianti Classico, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay.
