75 cl
James Suckling: 92 points
Alcohol content: 14% vol.
Grape varieties: 100% Montepulciano
Vinification:
The best lots from the Rosso Conero vineyards are used for this cru. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are crushed immediately. Fermentation takes place under temperature control in stainless steel tanks. The young wine is then matured for twelve to 14 months in French barriques and a further seven months in the bottle.
Tasting note:
A powerful and firm red wine with aromas of black cherries, nutmeg, cedar wood, coffee beans and orange peel on the nose. It is full-bodied and compact, with a strong tannin structure. Still a little woody at the moment, but long and with potential.
Umani Ronchi:
With their Umani Ronchi wine company, the Bernetti family has earned an excellent reputation as one of the leading wine producers in the Marche region far beyond the borders of the region and the country. Today, the winery, which is based in Osimo in the province of Ancona and has a branch in Castelbellino, is run by Massimo Bernetti and his son Michele.
In addition to around 200 hectares of land in the Marche region between the Apennines and the Adriatic coast, the successful winemaking duo also own a further 30 hectares of vineyards in Abruzzo. The declared aim of the estate owners is to convincingly emphasise the specific terroirs in both wine regions as well as the local Montepulciano and Verdicchio grape varieties with their typical characteristics.
