75 cl
Alcohol content: 14% vol.
Grape varieties: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Vinification:
Harvest and grape selection by hand. Gentle whole-cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation of the lees. Slow fermentation at a controlled temperature and maturation for 9 months on the fine lees, partly in large wooden barrels (50%) and partly in stainless steel tanks (50%). Assemblage three months before bottling. Quartz matures for eight months on the fine lees, half in stainless steel and half in French oak tonneaux.
Tasting note:
Sparkling yellow-green colour in the glass. The nose has a tantalising aroma of exotic fruits such as mango, papaya, lime and red grapefruit. The bouquet is complemented by herbal aromas such as lemongrass, lemon balm and mint, with a hint of green tea also recognisable. The Sauvignon Quartz also reveals a hint of gooseberry and flint. On the palate, the juicy fruit flavours combine with the delicate minerality to create a remarkably harmonious fullness that gives us a long finish.
Cantina Terlan:
Founded in 1893, Kellerei Terlan is now one of the leading winegrowers' cooperatives in South Tyrol. It currently has 143 members who cultivate 165 hectares of vineyards and produce a total of around 1.4 million bottles. Together with its members, the co-operative has been pursuing a strict quality policy for many years, which has earned them a reputation and recognition on the Italian and international wine market.
Despite its manageable size, the Terlan winery has thus become a firm institution in the professional world and has remained true to its philosophy "We let wines mature". Having time, taking time and giving things time is perhaps the greatest luxury we can have today, when everything has to happen faster and faster. In Terlan we afford ourselves this luxury. Every wine is given the time it needs to mature to absolute perfection. Even for decades.
