Vinification:

The wine comes from vineyards located between 100 and 200 metres above sea level, with soils of calcareous sandstone and white clay mixed with marly limestone flysch. The climate is Mediterranean and is tempered by frequent sea breezes. Viticulture, based on environmentally friendly methods and principles, enables a spontaneous productive balance with low yields per hectare. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected from vineyards with an average age of 25 years. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in open, truncated cone-shaped oak barrels with a capacity of 700 litres, with gentle and repeated manual punching down, which allows a long maceration and a slow release of the noble and fully ripe tannins. The wine was aged in barriques for 18 months and bottled in October 2021.

The Grattamacco - a typical representative of its region of origin - opens up a wide range of nuances and flavour impressions.
The full-bodied wine always remains elegant. Fine bouquet with notes of black fruit, wild strawberry, tobacco, smoke, hints of coffee and complex spice flavours such as rosemary and pepper. The flavour is long-lasting, harmonious and wonderfully balanced. Very full-bodied on the palate, broad and yet with silky tannins. Lots of juicy freshness and a long, lingering finish round off this fine wine.

Podere Grattamacco ist ein historisches, weltberühmtes Weingut in der Denomination Bolgheri in der italienischen Toskana. Es gilt als einer der wichtigsten Pioniere der Region, da es als zweiter Betrieb überhaupt Weine unter der heute legendären Appellation kommerzialisierte.

Das Weingut ist besonders dafür bekannt, dass es im Gegensatz zu vielen Nachbarn bis heute die traditionelle toskanische Rebsorte Sangiovese in seine Cuvées integriert und für den Anbau hochklassiger Weissweine aus der Vermentino-Traube berühmt ist.

Lage: Das Gut liegt auf den Hügeln zwischen Castagneto Carducci und Bolgheri. Es profitiert von einem trockenen, vom Meer geprägten Mikroklima.

Geschichte: Gegründet wurde es 1977 von Piermario Meletti Cavallari. Heute gehört es zur hochklassigen ColleMassari-Gruppe von Claudio Tipa.

Bewirtschaftung: Die rund 25 Hektar Rebfläche werden komplett ökologisch / biologisch bewirtschaftet.

Die Weinberge sind vor allem mit typischen „Bordeaux-Rebsorten“ sowie Sangiovese bestockt:

Rote Sorten: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc und Petit Verdot.

Weisse Sorte: Vermentino.

Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore DOC: Das Flaggschiff des Hauses. Eine elegante, langlebige Cuvée aus Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot und Sangiovese. Er reift in französischen Barriques.

Bolgheri Rosso DOC: Der zugänglichere, frischere Rotwein. Er zeichnet sich durch Aromen von reifen Kirschen, Kräutern, Tabak und feinen Gewürzen aus.
