Alcohol content:14,5% vol.
Grape varieties: 100% Sangiovese
Vinification:
30 months ageing in large barrels
Tasting note:
A beautiful 2016 with so much finesse and beauty. Fine tannins and a long, creamy finish. Medium body. Cedar wood and slight bitterness give it complexity and length. Beautiful Sangiovese. Spicy and lively finish with ripe fruit.
Klaus Reimitz:
Klaus Johann Reimitz is one of the most famous personalities in the Tuscan wine world: he worked for Montevertine for 27 years. During this time, the winery became one of the most famous in Chianti, and the Pergole tart became a global brand. In 2006, Klaus Reimitz retired for a while in order to delve deeper into the secrets of Sangiovese through intensive study and reflection. His friends, who love his wines, urged him to realise his own wine soon. Fortunately, there was also his winemaker friend Johannes Davaz from the highly renowned Azienda Agricola Poggio al Sole near Tavarnelle, who made the cellar and a vineyard available to Klaus Reimitz. The Reimitz IGT was then bottled for the first time with the 2011 vintage. The annual production is limited to 1500 to 3000 litres.
A great man, a great experience, a great wine! Klaus Reimitz fulfils (his) dream of the perfect Sangiovese. He no longer has to prove anything to anyone and wants to produce a few bottles for many friends. Klaus Reimitz is able to realise his philosophy uncompromisingly on a vineyard in a prime location at his friend's winery Poggio al Sole (whose Casasilia is one of the most outstanding interpretations of Chianti Classico). Nothing is left to chance. In addition to the meticulous care of the vineyard, "doing nothing" in the cellar is also optimised: in the intensive search for the best wood for a large 20 hl barrel, Klaus Reimitz did not find it in Burgundy, but in Bolzano. Little toast, large barrels and then wait until the wine is ready. Sangiovese at its most natural and beautiful. After 25 vintages of Le Pergole Torte, Klaus Reimitz knows exactly what he wants.
