Vinification:
Fermentation for 15 days in a steel tank, 16 months’ ageing in new and used wooden barrels, 8 months’ ageing in the bottle.
Tasting note:
On the nose, plenty of blackcurrant, blackberries and balsamic notes, sweet vanilla, toffee and a hint of mint; on the palate, it is characterised by power and opulence, with notes of blackberries, Earl Grey and a hint of liquorice; the tannins are well-integrated but still present, with plenty of creaminess in the rounded finish.
Azienda Russo:
The Russo Farm is an exceptionally authentic, family-run farm and a renowned vineyard in the municipality of Suvereto in the Tuscan Maremma. The farm is situated on a hill Podere Metocchina and is run by Michele Russo with great passion and craftsmanship.
What makes this Azienda special is its philosophy: whilst many of the surrounding estates have been transformed into prestige properties by major investors, Azienda Russo remains a genuine, down-to-earth agricultural business. Across some 12.5 hectares of vineyards, as well as additional olive groves and pastures, 100 % organic and worked in harmony with nature.
