Matured for 14 months in French barriques, aged in the bottle for 6 months

Tasting note:

Bright, intense ruby red colour with dark reflections. Slightly reductive on the nose, followed by crisp cherries, blackberries and violets. Sweet and rich on the palate, fine, still quite young tannins, juicy through to the finish

The winery Podere Sapaio is a renowned, modern winery in Tuscany. It combines the Bordeaux tradition with the Mediterranean terroir.

Zone: Bolgheri DOC at the Etruscan Coast (Municipality of Castagneto Carducci).

Floors: Alluvial and Quaternary deposits in direct Near the sea.

Area: Round 26 hectares Vineyard.

Owner: Founded and managed by Massimo Piccin.

Background: Piccin comes from Veneto and was originally Engineer, before he followed his passion for wine in 1999.

Cellar Master: The famous oenologist Carlo Ferrini advises the winery.

Wine style: Powerful, complex and profound Super Tuscans aged in French barriques. The wines display typical aromas of ripe dark berries, chocolate, spices and elegant woody notes.

The range: The winery focuses entirely on two famous cuvées:

Sapaio: The experimental top-quality wine (Bolgheri Superiore), whose blend of grape varieties varies significantly from vintage to vintage.

Volpolo: The more accessible second wine (Bolgheri DOC) with a clearly defined blend of grape varieties.
