Vinification:

The Pinot Noir grapes are gently pressed immediately after destemming and vinified in the same way as a white wine. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Ageing in stainless steel tanks preserves the wine’s freshness and lightness. A short ageing period ensures a rounded, balanced mouthfeel.

Tasting note:

The Federweiss displays a light, fragrant and fruit-driven aroma, in which delicate berry notes unfold harmoniously. This lively fruitiness lends the bouquet a distinct freshness and a pleasantly approachable, elegant style. On the palate, it is fresh and delicate, supported by a soft, flowing texture. A subtly sweet fruit note lends it smoothness, whilst the balanced acidity gives the wine structure and lightness. The harmonious, refreshing finish underlines its uncomplicated character and makes this Federweiss a delightful, light-footed wine that stylishly combines fruit and elegance.

Winery von Salis:

Motivated by his enthusiasm for good wines, Andrea Davaz founded von Salis AG with two friends in 1994. For 30 years now, we have been passionate about wine and have sought out the best wines from all over the world for our customers. Over the years, we have been able to recruit over 25 highly trained employees who keep track of our constantly growing range of wines in Landquart and in the Maienfeld wine shop. We source the grapes for our own wines from over 60 winegrowers in Fläsch, Maienfeld, Jenins, Malans, Zizers and Trimmis.

The Graubünden grapes that make our von Salis wine something very special grow on more than 50 hectares there. We also cultivate around two hectares of our own vines in the Bündner Herrschaft region. As not only regionality but also nature is important to us, we pay close attention to our ecological responsibility in all processes. In addition, we not only want to produce the best wines, but also sustainably promote our unique Bündner Herrschaft region in all its diversity so that many more generations can enjoy good wines.
