Tasting note:
Podere Sapaio 2020 Sapaio needs a few moments in the glass before the wine begins to sing. We are greeted by a full bouquet with notes of ripe fruit, balanced spice, sweet cinnamon, onions and an earthy note of minerals or soil stone. The fruit generously coats the palate with depth, dense structure, integrated tannins and further layers of dark fruit that unfold over time.
Podere Sapaio:
Podere Sapaio was born in 1999 in Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri, according to the will of Massimo Piccin, a Venetian engineer driven by a great passion for wine.
With a bold and visionary decision, a former farm with just a few rows of vines is transformed into a 25-hectare vineyard spread over 16 hectares in Bolgheri and 9 hectares in Bibbona. The company produces two labels, Sapaio and Volpolo, with the aim of becoming top wines in a unique region known worldwide.
